Raptors burst through ruined research facilities, jungle paths, and military compounds with a speed that makes every corridor feel dangerous. Dino Crisis 2 trades much of its predecessor’s slow, puzzle-heavy survival horror for an arcade-leaning action adventure built around killing prehistoric predators efficiently. Regina returns alongside soldier Dylan Morton after a time-displacement disaster strands an entire city in the dinosaur age. The result is tense but deliberately pulpy: part sci-fi rescue mission, part creature feature, and far more explosive than the original.

Players alternate between Regina and Dylan across distinct story routes, using their different arsenals to survive waves of dinosaurs and navigate hostile environments. Movement is quicker and more responsive than before, with characters running by default, aiming on the move, and carrying a primary weapon plus a secondary tool or firearm. Combat rewards smart positioning, rapid kills, and chaining attacks without taking damage; the Extinction Point system turns successful hunts into currency for ammunition, health items, armor, and increasingly destructive weapons. Expect raptors that overwhelm at close range, larger dinosaurs that demand heavy firepower, environmental hazards, occasional key-based puzzles, and memorable set pieces involving everything from flooded tunnels to massive reptilian bosses.

Capcom’s fixed-camera presentation still carries some classic survival-horror awkwardness, but the faster pace makes it feel closer to an arcade shooter than a resource-starved mansion crawl. Its dinosaur roster, escalating weapon upgrades, score-focused combat, and two-character structure give it a replayable edge over many games of its era. The game also has a striking tonal contrast: bright prehistoric landscapes and action-movie set pieces coexist with sudden ambushes, gore, and genuine pressure when ammunition runs low. Fans of Resident Evil 3, arcade action, or old-school creature horror will find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers should expect dated controls and presentation beneath an unusually energetic Capcom classic.
