Instead, familiar streets feel subtly wrong, old friends carry new burdens, and a pale, violet-haired girl named Yuka appears alongside an impossible, grotesque presence known as the Gore Screaming Show. The mood shifts from nostalgic school-life drama to cruel supernatural nightmare, with graphic imagery and psychological dread steadily infecting every quiet conversation.

Most of the experience centers on reading fully voiced scenes, studying character interactions, and making choices that shape Kyoji’s path through the town’s secrets. Conversations with Akane, Aoi, Kiika, and the rest of the cast build personal histories before the horror begins exploiting their fears, attachments, and hidden weaknesses. Branching decisions encourage repeat runs for alternate routes, revelations, and outcomes, while bad endings make even seemingly harmless moments feel tense. Rather than relying on action systems, it creates pressure through pacing: players spend long stretches wondering whether Kyoji can trust what he sees, remembers, or wants.

Ueda Metawo’s detailed 2D art gives the novel a distinctive identity, moving between expressive character portraits, warm domestic scenes, and images designed to be deeply uncomfortable.
