The result feels deliberately familiar to fans of old-school turn-based conquest games, but its science-fiction setting gives the formula a welcome change of scenery.

Each map revolves around sending commanders across the landscape, claiming mines and resource sites, collecting artifacts, and securing territory before opponents can do the same. Resources feed city construction, technological upgrades, recruitment, and stronger armies, so success depends as much on planning an efficient economy as winning individual battles. Combat plays out in turns, with unit placement, movement options, faction specialties, and commander powers all affecting the outcome; even a smaller force can win with careful use of terrain and abilities. Commanders develop through equipment, consumables, and a broad selection of skills, while their active powers create opportunities for aggressive attacks, defensive counters, or clever battlefield control.

Five factions provide distinct rosters, bases, and leaders rather than simple cosmetic swaps, encouraging players to rethink their preferred tactics between runs. Four campaigns contain sixteen missions, while more than thirty skirmish maps offer a stronger long-term option for anyone who enjoys testing different commanders and army builds. Bright alien environments and readable modern controls help keep the dense systems approachable, although resource denial and difficult enemy encounters give strategy veterans plenty to chew on.
