Sudeki (GOG)

A fractured fantasy kingdom, divided by war and political betrayal, provides the stage for a brisk action RPG built around a four-person party. Illumina Castle stands as a last bright refuge while the surrounding Aklorian countryside turns into a hostile stretch of ruins, monsters, and military patrols. Tal, Ailish, Elco, and Buki begin as loyal agents of their queen, but their mission steadily widens into a conflict involving ancient powers and uncomfortable truths about light and darkness. The tone is colourful and slightly theatrical rather than relentlessly grim, with a very early-2000s console-RPG charm.

Combat runs in real time, mixing close-range strikes, firearm and projectile attacks, dodges, defensive blocks, and character-specific magic. You directly control one hero while the remaining party members fight under AI control, and switching leaders lets you adapt to enemy weaknesses or simply play to each character’s strengths. Tal is the dependable sword fighter, Ailish uses elemental spells, Elco brings ranged firepower and gadgets, while Buki thrives as an agile melee specialist. Battles reward learning attack patterns and using combos, while experience, equipment upgrades, new spells, and special abilities give every hero a meaningful progression path.

Sudeki stands out most through its willingness to blend an accessible action system with traditional RPG party management and a surprisingly broad range of locations. Towns offer NPC conversations, shops, optional diversions, and clues, while dungeons mix enemy encounters with light puzzles and environmental obstacles that encourage a careful look around. Its camera, pacing, and presentation undeniably show their age, but the distinct heroes and fast switching system keep the adventure from feeling like a standard turn-based fantasy quest. Fans of Fable-era Xbox RPGs, Kingdoms of Amalur, or action-focused Japanese RPGs will find plenty to enjoy, especially if they value personality and straightforward combat over deep tactical complexity.
