A colorful fantasy shop becomes the starting point for a surprisingly substantial role-playing adventure, where every sweet can mean the difference between a narrow escape and a decisive win. You play Syrup, an inventive candy alchemist whose work expands far beyond serving treats at Atelier Sweets. Strange enemies, curious visitors, and mysteries waiting outside the shop give the story a playful, warm tone, while its magical setting still leaves room for boss fights and genuine stakes. Familiar faces from the earlier visual novel return, but the sequel is built to welcome players who have never met Syrup before.

Exploration sends Syrup across varied locations to talk with characters, take on quests, gather materials, and uncover ingredients for a large catalogue of confectionery recipes. Battles are turn-based and party-focused, with up to six companions available to recruit; each character contributes their own strengths as the group levels up through combat. Crafting is more than a side activity: candies supply healing, temporary boosts, revival effects, and other tactical tools that can reshape difficult encounters. Defeated monsters provide valuable components, so the central loop naturally connects fighting, collecting, experimenting at the cauldron, and preparing for the next challenge.

Its strongest idea is treating alchemy as a practical battle system rather than a menu-bound distraction, giving every newly discovered recipe a reason to matter. The hand-drawn, character-driven presentation carries the charm expected from NomnomNami’s work, and crossover appearances from stories such as Lonely Wolf Treat and BAD END THEATER reward longtime followers without excluding newcomers. With a main narrative that lasts several hours and plenty of recipes to pursue, it feels more ambitious than its cute premise initially suggests. Fans of accessible indie RPGs, visual novels with memorable casts, and light crafting systems should find a lot to enjoy, especially if games like Atelier appeal but a smaller, sweeter adventure sounds more inviting.
