Players travel between roughly 30 locations, speak to a huge cast with shifting loyalties, and choose how their character fits into the larger religious story. Combat uses period-appropriate weapons and scrappy brawling, while health, food, money, and time pressure make reckless decisions costly. An economy requires paying dues to Roman authorities, and criminal actions can lead to arrest or harsher consequences, giving the world more structure than a simple beat-'em-up. Supernatural abilities add another layer, with two dozen powers that can aid others, intimidate opponents, alter situations, or push a character toward a darker path.

The standout feature is the freedom to replay events from radically different angles: serve as an ally, a hostile tempter, a traitor, or an original figure who changes the cast and its future. After completing the main narrative, the character editor lets players begin at different points in the timeline and preserve alterations to the wider world, encouraging repeat runs. Its constantly changing character appearances and intentionally chaotic simulation style give it the unpredictable flavor associated with MDickie’s other games, even when the presentation feels clumsy.
