TROUBLESHOOTER: Abandoned Children turns that premise into a dense, story-led tactical RPG centered on Albus Bernstein, a young investigator building a company from the ground up. Its tone balances anime-style character drama with long, demanding turn-based battles against gangsters, mutants, rival troubleshooters, and other threats destabilizing the city. Rather than rushing through a campaign of disposable maps, it treats each operation as a case with its own terrain, objectives, enemy composition, and narrative context.

Combat plays on large tactical grids where movement, cover, elevation, turn order, status effects, and careful ability placement decide whether a mission stays under control. Albus gradually recruits a varied squad, with each operative filling a distinct battlefield role before advancing into stronger classes that can radically alter their strengths. The standout progression system is Mastery: characters learn passive traits from leveling and, crucially, by defeating foes that possess them, then combine those traits into powerful custom builds. That makes experimentation central, whether you want a durable counterattacker, a stealthy critical-hit specialist, a support expert, or a character built around elemental and crowd-control effects. Missions can be punishing when poor positioning snowballs, but the depth rewards players who study enemy skills and refine their team between deployments.

More than a hundred individually designed missions give the campaign an impressive sense of scale, while the expanding cast provides reasons to care about the company beyond its combat efficiency. Its colorful 3D presentation and character-focused storytelling feel closer to a Korean anime drama than the bleak military tone of XCOM, though the strategic planning can be just as absorbing. Fans of Final Fantasy Tactics, XCOM 2, and Disgaea-style buildcraft will find an unusually generous amount of customization and tactical challenge here. Newcomers can enjoy its approachable early chapters, but strategy veterans who love spending hours tuning synergistic squads are the audience most likely to get hooked.
