Rather than merely watching towers fire, you constantly manage a desperate defense against swarms, specialist undead, and imposing bosses.

Each mission begins with placing the guitarist to determine where zombies emerge and travel, creating room for smart choke points and risky route manipulation. Soldiers cover distinct roles, ranging from basic pistol and rifle units to katana fighters, snipers, and flamethrower specialists, so success depends on combining their ranges and strengths effectively. During combat, real-time upgrades let you adjust damage, firing rate, ammunition capacity, target priority, and other key stats as the situation deteriorates. Completing stages earns stars that unlock additional soldiers, gradually expanding the tactical options available for later encounters and tougher enemy types, including crawling threats and armed undead.

The guitarist-controlled enemy path is the standout idea, giving players more direct control over the flow of a wave than most lane-bound defense games offer. Ten fully 3D locations keep the campaign visually varied, while roughly twenty enemy varieties ensure that simply relying on one favorite unit type eventually stops working. It feels closest to a compact, rock-themed take on Kingdom Rush-style defense, but with more emphasis on directing the horde and actively tailoring units mid-fight.
