World to the West (v1.4.0)

A forgotten civilization casts a long shadow over a bright, comic-book fantasy world where prophecy, colonial corruption, and strange machinery collide. World to the West is a top-down action-adventure set in the same broad universe as Teslagrad, but it trades that game’s side-scrolling structure for an interconnected world built around exploration and character-driven puzzles. Its tone balances colorful European adventure-comic charm with an underlying sense of danger and mystery. Four unlikely heroes arrive with separate goals, only to find their paths crossing as ancient secrets begin to surface.

Players alternate between Lumina, Knaus, Miss Teri, and Lord Clonington, each bringing a radically different toolset to the journey. Lumina manipulates electrical energy, Knaus slips through small spaces and avoids notice, Teri controls enemies’ minds, and Clonington solves problems with brute strength and a very large mustache. Progress depends less on constant combat than on reading environments, finding routes through dungeons and wilderness, and switching to the character whose ability unlocks the next obstacle. Fights are simple but can become hectic when creatures, traps, and terrain combine, while death sends you back without turning the adventure into a punishing endurance test.

The biggest strength is how the four protagonists make the world feel like a layered puzzle rather than a straightforward quest. Areas such as tropical ruins, icy regions, settlements, and underground facilities conceal alternate paths and optional discoveries, rewarding players who poke around instead of following the obvious road. Its hand-drawn visuals, eccentric cast, and dialogue give it a personality closer to a Saturday-morning comic than a grim action RPG, even when the plot grows darker. Fans of Zelda-style exploration, Teslagrad’s oddball science-fantasy setting, and puzzle adventures with distinct playable characters should find plenty to like, while newcomers benefit from its approachable combat and clear ability-based design.
